Round we go again!

Can't believe it's been so long since I've updated. Life is a big blur!!

Well bad news on the weigh in last night ... 500g gain ... grrrr!! I think I became complacent. I expected a gain last week and came home with a 200g loss. In the back of my brain I was thinking ... yeah I can do this!! By working all day I'm going to have losses no matter what I eat. Ohhh so wrong!! I didn't do any big pigouts over the week but my eating was just ... well ... not planned. The occasional thing would slip into my mouth and I'd think yeah that's ok, I'm working now, I'll still lose. But sadly that's not the case. So it was a good kick up the butt for me.

I'd love to say today I was rearing to go ... rearing to kick butt. Hmmm but no. I was feeling sorry for myself all day. I'm happy and all but when it came to food I thought What's the point? I'll gain anyway. And don't everyone go "Wrong, wrong!!" lol Cuz I know I was wrong thinking that but I guess I just had a day of the good vs bad guys fighting in my head.

Anyway I'm okay and I'll get over this. Just a little hicup in the road.

what a small world

Wow what a small place Waihi Beach is ... everyone knows everyone and people pop up everywhere that we know elsewhere!!

The two bank tellers at our Katikati branch live at Waihi Beach and one of the tellers has a daughter that lives next door to us. Then one of them turned up at my WW meeting.

The tip top rep worked with Bill 10yrs ago in a Hamilton supermarket and her husband is managing the 4square store across the road while the owner is away. Bill worked with both the owner and the manager on seperate occasions!! How flukey is that?? The good thing about this is we were able to get a little inside information on how the 4square is doing. Last year the 4square owner tried to set up an icecream parlour section to the store in competition to our shop (with the previous owners of course) and apparently (we found out from the fillin manager that Bill knew) there was a huge outcry in the town about it. They were at the point of picketing his store. This is huge knowledge to know!! It means the town is really behind us as a small business doing the family icecream thing and when we expand next year this gives us confidence it will all work.

Bill stayed at home yesterday while I worked in the shop. He promised to cook a wonderful dinner and have it ready by the time I got home. But hometime came and he said we were going out for dinner instead (typical male lol) ... this would have been fine except the one and only family restaurant in the town for some reason didn't open last night! lol So we had no choice but to get takeaways. But I did ok with having no chips, half a fish (which I took off the batter) and a burger.

Yesterday I pampered myself with having my hair done. I've gone darker this time with blonde streaks ... quite funky ... I love it. My brother is coming down for the weekend and he has a digital camera so I'll get him to take some pics of me, the shop and our house for you guys.

Bill and I both have the day off today ... yippee!!

Shoplifters ... grrr!!

Weigh in tonight. I've lost weight this week but last week I had quite a big gain. I didn't make it to weighin last Monday so even tho I know I've lost it will still probably record as a gain on my last weighin two weeks ago. But I'm happy with that ... at least I've pulled back would could have been a big 2kg gain to around what I'm guessing 800g gain. But as I always say I can never be sure till I get there.

Yesterday was a boomer day in the shop with our biggest turnover yet for the week. Although we had a few shoplifters which left a yucky feeling in my gutt. One Bill caught putting a snickers bar in his pocket. He managed to get a confession out of him and the snickers bar returned, which led to a total ban of him coming into our shop again. And the second I suspected but didn't catch. It's so sad that two episodes like this can put such a damper on so much positivity. As Bill says tho, that's life and there will always be theft in a store like ours, that's part of the reason dairies have to be so expensive on some items. Still makes me angry tho!!

But overall the day went well and Bill made me feel so much better after having a good talk through about it all.

I've found something even better than chupachups for stopping the lolly picking ... tictacs. They're small and I can have one in my mouth without any customers noticing.

We've had a huge amount of positive reactions to our store relay, so that's encouraging.

Thanks for the tips on the remedies, might give that one a try. i've been taking womans multivitamins to give myself a boost especially after I started getting coldsore symtoms.

I'll get some photos up when I can. The problem being I don't have a digital camera and my scanner is on the blink at the moment. But I'll try because pictures explain so much more than any flowery words can say.

I have the luxury of half a day off today thanks to Bill. So might spend the afternoon reading a mag or two.... Bliss!!

Another day in the shop

Just a quick update today. I'm really tired and have a headache. Spent my first Saturday in the shop and it was hectic all day. I guess that's good for the bottom line but hard work. I'd better lose some weight this week with the amount of hours I've been on my feet.

Still trying to perfect the icecream rolling. I've had a few mishaps with one double scoop choc dip icecream nearly falling into the choc dipping machine. It went in the bin and I had to start again. At least I didn't eat it! lol

We did a massive rearranging in the shop yesterday, taking out half of the counter. As it was people had to ask for grocery items from behind the counter. Now people can get in and look for themselves, much better!! And looks like it's starting to show with lots more grocery items being bought this morning already. Infact Bill had to make an emergency trip to the supermarket to restock on several items this morning. When he got back he showed me some nurifen to put on the shelf. And 2 minutes later someone came in and asked for it... talk about good timing!!

Well I guess I've bored you all with my shop talk, must be time to sign off... lol

lovin it!!

Time as just flown by!! As you can probably tell with my lack of updates. Shy

For the first time in many months even years, I'm waking up excited about what the day holds for us!! Bill and I are working together with the same goals in mind. I'm out of the house everyday amongst people for the first time in 9 years!!! Too Happy 1 AND LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!

For the first two days it was all quite overwhelming with so much to learn and remember. But by yesterday I was beginning to feel at ease with everything and confident in what I was doing. Big Smile For so many years (nearly 10yrs now) Bill has worked long hours away from home, leaving at 5 to 6am and not arriving home till around 6 or 7pm at night (sometimes even later) so I've been an at home mum all that time for all those hours and although I've enjoyed having the kids and pottering around home I really missed the people contact. Babysitting So I'm finally catching up on 10yrs of adult conversation!! And being able to work together with Bill is a dream come true!! Cool

So as you can probably read between the lines .... IM PRETTY HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!

I didn't make it to weigh in on Monday. It was our first day in the shop and Bill and I wanted to cash up and lock up the shop together for the first time.

My eating has been surprisingly good I think. Many people told me I would gain weight working in the shop and I have to agree it's a temptation that I've had to work on. Especially the lollies!! That's a big part of our business is lollies. Two of the jars had lids broken on them so it was so easy to slip and hand in there and pop a lolly in the mouth on the way past. But I've fixed the lid on the top to stop my hand. Another temptation time is making up lolly bags of 50c and $1 mixes. Bill and I had a brainstorming session last night to solve this one and came to the answer of having chupa chups for this time. Having a lolly pop in my mouth for this time will stop more lollies going in my mouth. This job is done once a day so a chupa chup (at half a point) once a day wont break the points bank, and it's done away from customers so it won't look bad.

Another temptation is hot pies and hot chocolate machine. I've given myself a rule no pies allowed full stop for me in the shop. I'm allowed to take a pie home and eat it with the family for dinner but even this is once in a blue moon because they are just so high in points.

As for the hot chocolate I've taken a jar down of Cadbury High Lites Drinking chocolate to the shop. I really enjoy this drink and it's low in points.

So for now I've come up with strategies to overcome the temptations that so many people told me I would secume to! But that's good because ít's made me more determined that ever to prove them all wrong! Raise The Roof 1

I'm outa here for now!

Here we are, this is it!!

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes!!

Well this is it!! Today's the day!! The day Bill has been dreaming of for 15 years... here we are!!

We did the stocktake last night and came home reasonably early at 10.30pm. It all went well. Was a bizarre moment having the keys handed over. We got home and were both so hyped we didn't know what to do with ourselves!

And for the first time I dreamed all night about the shop. Bill was up bright and early off to open the shop... 1hr before he needed to be there! lol

I'll go down once the kids are off to school and I have done all the bits and pieces round here ... somewhere around 10.30am and work through till 2pm while Bill comes home for 4hrs with the younger two kids. Then he takes over from 2pm till 7pm. This is mostly how we will work it with a bit of tweaking over next few weeks.

Bill just adored his birthday present!! I gave him the tackle box filled with tackles, swivels, hooks, fishing knife etc first and he was wrapped with that! Then I told him to take the keys, look in the boot of the car for the rest and you should have seen his face light up!! Truelly a moment to remember!! "have you bought me a surf caster??!!" He shouted!! He played with it ALL NIGHT!! Like any male playing with a new toy!! lol

Now onto the serious stuff ... my eating!!! hmmm, really don't know how I've done on this side. I had a few chips yesterday and a few glasses of red wine on Friday night when we had my brother over for dinner. Other than that it's been pretty good. Got weigh in tonight and I'm a scaredy cat again!! Can't change anything now so just guess I'll face the music and get it over with.

I'll let you know tonight

Birthday surprise

Really not a lot to update on tonight but thought I would let you all know I'm still alive! Chillen

My eating has been not too bad. By that I mean I have been over a couple of points each day but with all healthy stuff. My alcohol level has been really low but exercise could have been alittle better. I've been for two half hour walks so far this week. Mind you that's 100% better than a few weeks ago.

The last couple of days have been filled with more organising for the shop. Almost everything is set up now. A big relief when we found out the eftpos was finally ready to go.

We have a stocktake to do on Sunday night before the big opening on Monday ... wahooo!!!

Bill birthday tomorrow Surprise ... and I've bought him a surf caster!!! Teethy Wahooo I'm so excited!!! Too Happy 1 He is fishing mad but has never had the right gear so now that we are at the beach he can get out fishing more often. Can't wait to see the look on his face. Shock 4 My brother is picking it up for me on his way over here on Saturday, so Bill knows absolutely nothing about it. Okay a bit of background history here ...

EVERY SINGLE year I buy Bill's present he manages to weasle it out of me Darn what I have bought him before his birthday. But I'm so proud of myself ... this time he knows absolutely nothing!!! And I'm NOT TELLING HIM!! No No No

I'll let you know what he thinks.

Lookout I'm back!!!

Wahooooo!!!! 400g loss tonight!! Too Happy 1 Wrapped with that! It feels like such a long time since I've had a loss. The countdown has started again.

And my new ww meeting was great!! The leader was wonderful and very inspiring! Although she made me feel a little conspicous because I was made to give a speal on where I had come from, how long I had been on ww and how much I had lost, given it was my first time there. Fainting But everyone seemed really friendly and I even made a buddy (with phone numbers exchanged) to go walking with! High Five

Things are starting to happen again... yay!!!

I had a cool moment today ... After walking out of the supermarket this afternoon I had 2 trolleys, Grocery CartOh JeezGrocery CartBill needed to take Jordan to the toilet Peeing leaving me to manipulate two trolleys along the walkway. I had a very good looking business man stop and ask me if he could help me. Babe Magnet I said no it's okay, my husband will be along shortly to help. After Bill got back I told him about it and he said I should have accepted his help, got to the car, given him a kiss on the cheek Lipstick and turned around to Bill and said "hi honey" I'm a bit to shy for that, but made me feel special all the same. Blushy 2

Devone - here's the recipe to my pumpkin soup ... I kinda make it up as I go along but this one turned out yummy!! Brewing

Pumpkin soup

half a pumpkin (I used a squash)
1 can lite coconut cream (I use Samoa brand, much lower in points than all the others - 2pts per can)
1 tsp garlic
1 onion
2 tsp chicken or green herb stock
salt/pepper
sweetener to taste (either sucrel (sp) or brown sugar)
a dash of curry powder (half tsp?)

Peel pumpkin and chop into small pieces and put into pot with onion, garlic, stock and cover with water (just enough to cover the pumpkin), cover and bring to the boil. Then simmer till cooked (around 1hr).

Leave water in pot (don't strain) Add salt/pepper, sweetener, coconut cream and curry powedr, heat through then mash and puree in a food processer till smooth... serve immediately .... LUSH!!!!

(serves 6-8)

Enjoy!!

weighin tonight

Weighin tonight and im quite nervous. Really hoping for a small loss but who knows!!

Turns out the ww meeting here is just across the block, a few minutes walk from here, so that works out well.

Went grocery shopping today and Bill bought a hot chicken for lunch ... I absolutely love hot chickens but resisted in even stealing a little bit. Sometimes I think that if know one sees it then the scales won't know!! But we all know this isn't true. So an achievement today!! Let's just hope the scales reward me for my strong motivation tonight! lol

My sister and her husband came over for the weekend. Always a tempting time when visitors are here to have 'special' treats that aren't point friendly, but I think I did pretty well. I made a 0pt pumpkin soup for lunch but the boys brought home fish and chips. I secumed to a few but filled myself up on pumpkin soup first.

I'm finally starting to feel slim again. For so long I've felt frumpy and fat (even tho I'm so much lighter now than I was 18mths ago I know). But you know when you know you should feel better and should be losing more. These last few kilos have been really hard. Someone told me that when I first started but never realised how true that would be.

Just think what an achievement it will be when I finally get to goal!! Fingers crossed for me tonight!!

Fun day in the rain

We decided yesterday morning we would go for a stroll. Half an hour into it we changed our minds and set out for a walk to Bowentown Cafe (what we thought would be an extra half an hour walk). But it turned out to be 13kms there and back!!!! lol

A nice walk all the same but when we walked back along the beach we were being chased by threatening clouds. It was a race home to get there before we got poured on. We lost the race and the thunderclouds threw their revenge on us!! A fun adventure tho, even if the kids got a little scared.

Lucky I had grabbed the kids jackets and an umbrella, although the umbrella threatened to tear apart with the huge gusts of wind that came with the rain.

But we got off lucky with only mildly getting soaked lol. And I earnt myself 10 bonus points. And even ended the day under my 20 point allowance without using any bonus points.

A very successful day. It's amazing how one successful day and inspire you to carry on so much!!

it finally caught up with me

All the stress and activity of the last few months has finally caught up with me. Yesterday I woke up with a coldsore, sty in my eye, diareah and just felt absolutely yuck!! I spent the day sleeping on the couch and doing not much. Think my body really needed it because after a good nights sleep last night (the first in quite a few weeks) I woke up feeling pretty good.

My weight was up slightly this morning even tho I had a good day of eating and exercise the last few days (no exercise yesterday but did an hours walk each day before that for 3 days in a row). It's probably a catchup of a few slip ups last week.

Finishing off the last few bits of unpacking today and hopefully getting our tv aerial sorted finally. We've had a week of no tv, really makes you appreciate it when you don't have it for a week. We've watched every dvd and played every game we have 10 times over lol.

Well I'm off to catchup on everyones journals, taken me a while after a week.

Chino's home again ... phew!!

Life is so busy at the moment. There is so much involved in starting this business... but it's keeping me out of trouble I guess.

Eating has been good, alcohol consumption could be improved a little but my exercise has been fantastic with quite a few long walks up my sleeve this week.

I had an emotional 3 days when Chino our burmese went walkabout. I ended up doing a letterbox drop around the neighbourhood and this proved very successful with quite a few people calling with sightings of him. Then on Sunday night (he went missing Friday morning) we finally found him one street away. He has stuck like glue to us since, poor little man. Glad to have him home.

I rang up ww this morning to find out where the local meeting was so I could have a weighin. I missed this weeks meeting by 12hrs. It was last night so guess it will have to wait till next week.

Trying to sort out staff issues at the moment which is a little hard emotionally wise. The current owners of the dairy had far too many staff on. They were both not well healthwise so this was understandable but it means we have to lay off alot of people. Not a nice task, but has to be done.

Alot has happened the past week but nothing to write on here about, just boring stuff like organising bank accounts, insurance etc, etc. So I won't bore you all with the details.

Still haven't got into a proper daily routine yet, probably why I haven't had the updates I usually do. But don't worry once things settle down I'll be back into my daily updates again.
